My journey in art began as a child and it became a love and desire as a teenager. I grew up in Texas and studied art and theatre at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas earning a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Theater. As a young college art student I became disgruntled with what seemed a too rigid and ordered approach to this passion. I left the pencils and brushes behind to pursue one of my other callings — acting. (It’s highly unlikely you ever saw me in anything.) For several years, I worked and lived in New York cultivating not only my passions, but also my experiences as an artist and aspiring bohemian. I recommend it.
As my thirties were racing to an end, I once again picked up my pencils and began to draw. I returned to Texas, spending many years in Dallas, until I finally landed in Houston – moving here to be with the love of my life. We married in Central Park in NYC among family and our closest friends.
Here in the Houston Arts community, I am heartened by my peers and supporters. I have been encouraged to explore many mediums in art, yet as a more mature artist (read older), I have found that I am most at home with pencil, charcoal, pastels, and digital photography.
